{"id":762,"date":"2023-11-18T12:24:18","date_gmt":"2023-11-18T12:24:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/frozenrain.be\/?p=762"},"modified":"2023-12-28T18:13:25","modified_gmt":"2023-12-28T18:13:25","slug":"review-sleaze-roxx","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/frozenrain.be\/?p=762","title":{"rendered":"CD review &#8216;Sleaze Roxx&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"400\" height=\"158\" src=\"https:\/\/frozenrain.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/sleazeroxx.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-763\" srcset=\"https:\/\/frozenrain.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/sleazeroxx.jpg 400w, https:\/\/frozenrain.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/sleazeroxx-300x119.jpg 300w, https:\/\/frozenrain.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/sleazeroxx-24x9.jpg 24w, https:\/\/frozenrain.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/sleazeroxx-36x14.jpg 36w, https:\/\/frozenrain.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/sleazeroxx-48x19.jpg 48w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The brainchild of Belgian songwriter&nbsp;<strong>Kurt Vereecke<\/strong>, and a full decade after their last album&nbsp;<em>Ahead of Time<\/em>,&nbsp;<strong>Frozen Rain<\/strong>&nbsp;finally return with their third record, seemingly reinvigorated with a new vocalist and guitarist, and ready to climb the AOR charts and fill guest slots at any number of&nbsp;<strong>Hard Rock Hell<\/strong>&nbsp;styled festivals.<br><br>The title track is a dreamy, almost yearning opener with absolutely flawless harmonies that draws you in completely and never outstays its nearly six minute length. \u201cMove On \u201c is a more standard soft rocker that had a certain&nbsp;<strong>Kansas<\/strong>&nbsp;feel for me, whilst \u201cFire\u201d is infectious with a great chorus and the first of many fine&nbsp;<strong>Jens Ambrosch<\/strong>&nbsp;guitar solos. We are on the right track with the driving \u201cHow Could I Know\u201d and the&nbsp;<strong>Survivor<\/strong>&nbsp;like \u201cLet Me Love You\u201d which is just begging to be a single. \u201cWhat\u2019s It Gonna Be\u201d has another radio friendly chorus. \u201cReady For Tonight\u201d wouldn\u2019t be out of place on any mid-80\u2019s Journey album which in this genre is probably the highest compliment that could be paid to it. Similarly, \u201cThat\u2019s Why I\u2019m Loving You\u201d has yet more perfect harmonies and fine&nbsp;<strong>Ambrosch<\/strong>&nbsp;playing before the appropriately titled \u201cThe Waiting\u2019s Over\u201d is an impassioned, mid-tempo rocker which closes proceedings in fine melodic style.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is crisply produced and the band really can\u2019t be faulted, with\u00a0<strong>Jurgen Vitrier<\/strong>\u00a0and founder\u00a0<strong>Kurt Vereecke<\/strong>\u00a0both on keys and bass more than ably supported by\u00a0<strong>Hans Vereecke<\/strong>\u2019s stylish drums, and who generously makes way for guest skin work by\u00a0<strong>April Wine<\/strong>\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Roy Nicholl<\/strong>\u00a0on a couple of tracks.\u00a0<strong>Josefine Wassler<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Joke Vereecke<\/strong>\u00a0provide superb backing vocals throughout, and as already mentioned,\u00a0<strong>Jens Ambrosch<\/strong>\u00a0on guitar is a very fine player indeed.
